Chelsea Face off against the “other team From Madrid” in the Semi Finals of the champion’s league.

Athletico Madrid have defied the odds and knocked out the formidable Catalan Giants Barcelona and now look to cause another upset. They are scheduled to host the blues on Tuesday 22nd of April for a fixture many tabloids and football pundits have described as a bloody and exhilarating battle.

Chelsea and Atheltico Madrid share similar style of playing, with emphasis fluent passing, and movement, as well as physical power in pressuring off the ball. This approach has paid off well for the el atleti as they remain undefeated at home, (an impressive record considering that they have faced off against Real Madrid and Barcelona) and are currently top the La Liga standings with 79 points. Chelsea are second and trailing Liverpool by two point in the Barclays premiere league and their away form is somewhat below par ,as Jose Mourinho men ,have only managed to one win in their last 5 away games.

Another interesting fact about this fixture is the availability of Belgian goal keeper Thibaut Courtois who is a Chelsea player currently on loan to atheltico. Chelsea initially had a clause in his loan agreement that would render him ineligible to play against his parent club, something Atheltico Madrid’s President mentioned in his interview with the Spanish press, however the governing organization of European football UEFA, have stepped in and notified Chelsea that according to the rules and regulation, Chelsea cannot  stop  atheltico from fielding the player and that the agreement is Void .

Regardless of these shenanigans, the fixture remains to be an exciting and a full -action showcase of top class football.  Make sure to visit the page in the upcoming week, for a more detailed Match preview Article.
