La Liga is zooming to a smashing climax with Atletico, Barca and Real all in the race to the top. Current title favourite and surprise-of-the-season Atletico Madrid are set to host the down- and-out Malaga at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday. Atletico’s last La Liga trophy was way back in 1996. Pushing behind biggies like Barcelona and Real Madrid, a resurgent Atletico under Coach Diego Simeone is currently leading the Spanish League with 88 points gained from 36 matches. In their last 5 outings, they have notched 4 wins. The single shocker of a loss was the 0-2 defeat against Levante that broke their 11-match winning streak.


Bernd Schuster’s Malaga on the other hand is way behind at no.13 with just 41 points. Of their last 4 outings they have won just one match, and have scored zilch in the last two. They lost their last home match 0-1 against Elche. Last season they were 4th and reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League, thanks to a little coach known as Manuel Pellegrini, now more famous as the Man City Manager. Malaga also sold their best player Isco to Real Madrid, and did not bother replacing him. The losses are showing.

Atletico need to keep their heads , and win the game to be crowned champions of la liga , with a bit of luck , they may even win the Double this season.

Atletico is 3 points ahead of Barcelona and 4 points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the table. They will definitely look to win this match by a good margin and will keep their fingers crossed for Barca to slip at their last two hurdles. A win against Malaga and draw with Barcelona will bring them the title. Of course, Barca can still pip Atletico to the title if they win their last two games.

The mid-table Malaga is not expected to pose mush of a challenge. After all, Atletico won the reverse fixture 1-0 in January and have 6 wins against Malaga in their last 7 matches. Malaga have nothing to lose, and a couple of points to gain, so they will try their best. Of course, their best may not be good enough against Atletico.

Atletico has an A-one team that plays a great pass, dribble, shoot and run game. Striker Diego Costa and playmaker Koke are the big Atletico stars. Diego has scored 27goals ,and koke has provided 13 assists.

atletico are a  composed ,and well organised side , with talented players who can change the game in any moment.they re strong in the air , and have great passers of the ball. Expect o see atletico control the game from the kick off. Malaga could sit back and absorb the pressure and hit atletico on the counter , but sitting back against such an attacking team is dangerous ,and can be costly for Malaga.
