the last 5 meeting between the two sides have resulted in 3 draws and a win for each team.ther most recent game which was played in the first stages of the season resulted in a win for  Chelsea  with a score of 2 -1 at the Stamford bridge . 

Injury news  

Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers will  be without first pick  midfielder Jordan Henderson - with the England international having two more matches to serve on a three-game ban, meaning he will not come back into contention until the final weekend of the season. Daniel Sturridge had picked up ankle injury in training  last week, he is likely to start ,if he can shake off the injury in time for the game .  

Chelsea will be without Petr Cech and John Terry on Sunday, with the former having suffered a dislocated shoulder against Atletico that has ended his season and the latter nursing a foot problem picked up in the same game. 

Brazilian midfielder Ramires is also missing as he starts a four-match ban, Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah are likely to start  as they are ineligible in Europe, but it remains to be seen whether Eden Hazard (calf) and Samuel Eto'o (knee) will be involved after being forced to sit out a midweek trip to Vicente Calderon.

Chelsea travel to Spain in order to face off against the la liga's  Top dog ; Atletico Madrid, in the semifinals of the champion’s league.

Realistically, no one expected Chelsea to go through the quarter finals, after Paris saint Germaine had put 3 past them in the first leg of the quarter finals. They showed great resilience and spirit, when they came back for a 2 goal deficit in the second leg and knocked the French giants out of the competition, thanks to goals from Andreas Shurle, and Demba Ba. They are currently second in the premiere standings with 75 points are chasing Liverpool in the title race. They haven’t shown a great away form this season, managing only 2 wins in their last 5. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho at times blamed the lack of able strikers for his team’s poor away form this season, but the opposing team’s manager Diego Simone has praised Chelsea’s strike force ,saying they possess world class strikers in there team ,who are a danger to any team. I suspect his history with Chelsea’s Fernando Torres may have clouded his judgment to some e extend. Fernando Torres form this season can be labeled many things but saying his world class is a bit of an exudation. Will Torres’s return to his boyhood clubs ground will a dream or a nightmare? We will just have to wait and see.

Atletico Madrid has had no such problems this season. They possess a potent strike force in Spanish Internationals Diego Costa who is subject to a possible transfer between the two clubs , and David Villa. They have put away Opposition with ease this season, thanks to their lethal partnership in front of the opposition goal. Atletico Madrid defied all odds when they knocked 3 times champions Barcelona Out of the competition, and by doing so proved to be worthy adversaries.

Diego Simeone has been boosted by the news that midfielder Arda Turan is fit.The Turkey international had been sidelined with a groin injury suffered during the quarter-final first leg against Barcelona and his return will ease the pressure on playmaker Koke.Costa will lead the Atletico line, while on-loan goalkeeper Courtois will line up between the posts after UEFA made it clear that there could be no deal preventing him from facing his parent club. Samuel Eto'o was left in London with a knee injury , but Eden Hazard, who has not played since suffering a calf injury in the quarter-final win over Paris St Germain, did travel with the squad on Monday.Cech is included in a 20-man squad party after missing Saturday's shock home defeat by Sunderland in the Premier League through illness but Branislav Ivanovic is suspended, so Cesar Azpilicueta may play at right-back and Ashley Cole could return on the left.Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah are ineligible after playing for other clubs earlier in the competition.

this game is a difficult one to call, both teams play a great passing game ,and possess great skill on the ball.the team with arial power is likey to gain an advantage ,in this case chelsea,but athletico are a great counter attacking team , and can expose chelsea's lack of pace in defence .

Liverpool have won 10 games in a row, and they are looking to add number 11 to that streak. After beating Rivals Man City 3-2 last week, they come into this game with a high confidence and they have got the kopites (Liverpool fans) believing that Liverpool can finally win the premiere league title after 24 years.

Currently top of the English league standing with 77 points, all they need to do is win their next 4 games. They will be without midfield dynamo, Jordan Henderson as he was sent off against Mancity at anfeild, after picking up a second yellow card after a harsh challenge on Man city’s Samir Nasri. Daniel Sturridge has picked a minor ankle injury and will not be available for the game. The Uruguayan Luis Suarez will have to do it on his on again against a team he loves to score against. He has scored 11 goals in 5 games against Norwich, and will surly look to add to his incredible goal tally of 29 goals so far this season. He is currently leading the goal scoring and assist charts in the premiere league.

Manchester City have become a formidable side in the recent years with vast amounts of cash injections from the Oil sheiks of Middle East ,and the recruitment  of world’s top talents. City have a squad of players that will get into any of the top soccer teams around the world. With 70 points and two games at hand they visit anfeild with an air of confidence backed by their brilliant performances in derby matches. Stand out player for them has been the Ivory Coast international and former Barcelona Midfielder Yaya Toure ,who’s has scored  18 goals from the central midfield position this season. It will be exciting to see how he performs against the aggressive pressuring of Steven Gerrard and Liverpool’s high defensive line.

Jose Enrique is sidelined for the rest of the season with a knee injury but the Reds are boosted by the return of Vice-captain Daniel Agger, who missed last week's win over West Ham with a knee injury. That could give Brendan Rodgers a selection dilemma as Mamadou Sakho put in a very good performance last week and it would be seen as harsh to drop him.

For City, they are likely to welcome back Sergio Aguero into the side after a hamstring problem - which the club have been cautious with so he's available for this clash. Yaya Toure picked up a knock against Southampton but he should have no problem being fit for this encounter. Matija Nastasic is still struggling with a knee problem and is likely to miss out.

Liverpool manager Brandon Rodgers has been a busy man this summer, signing 5 players and keeping one particular trouble maker yet very talented South American away from the bedazzling attempts of   Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

The reds new acquired players seem to be adapting very well, with Iago Aspas, and Luis Alberto both registering goals for their new clubs. There is been a lot of talk about the Brazilian new boy wonder Philippe Couthino , who  has been making waves across the media with promising performances for Liverpool in the preseason friendly games .  It will remain to be seen whether the former Inter Milan player will make his mark for Liverpool this season.  Stoke Fc have hired the services of   a new manager  Relegation Specialist Mark Hughes  and are looking to remain in the top flight this season , with no major acquisition stokes ambitions are currently being questioned by their fans . Liverpool   have no injury headaches to deal with although they will be without star man and teams  top scorer last season  Luis Suarez  ,as the Uruguayan is serving a 9 game ban , 6 of which are still remaining.Stoke meanwhile, are without midfielder Brek Shea, who has a knee injury suffered in a friendly in the United States last month.

Denmark face the Orange beast from the north as the star studded Dutch 11 look for easy pickings

The Danes surly have their work cut out for them; they are drawn in group B with Germany, Portegual and world cup finalist Netherlands. Upcoming player christen Erikson will be on his toes as he knows Manchester united and arsenal who both have been linked with the player will be watching. The Danes have managed three victories in their last five games, losing the Russia and Brazil consecutively. No real injury headache for the manger except  Midfielder Zimling who was put on a stretcher at the end of the Danish teams training.

 In a post match interview Danish coach Martin Olsen, commented: "Everything has already been said and written. We can say we are a little jealous of the Dutch team that we are not in their shoes, because they are the favorites. There is no doubt about that.

"They are a good team in all positions, and on the bench as well, they are filled with great quality."But while he was happy to cede the favorites tag to his rivals, Olsen promised no lack of fight on the pitch."The Dutch have become better since the last time we met but so have we. The orange were the highest scoring side during the qualifiers managing an extraordinary feat of 37 goals In 10 games. With Shalke forward klass Jan Huntelaar finishing top scorer with 12 goals. That doesn’t get him a starting role as Robin Van persi‘s season with arsenal cemented his place in the Dutch national team. With players like Robben and Wesley Snijder feeding him passes, he is most likely to get on the score sheets multiple times during the tournament. Having won 3 games out of the 5 played the Dutch are heavily favored to win the competition.

Coach Bert Van Marwijk will be without the services of left back Joris Mathjisen as he recovering from a hamstring injury ,18 year old jetro williems is likey to start, as his introduction will make him the youngest ever player tp play in the competions history .
